The type of personal information I collect

I collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you contact me or interact with my website or choose my services.

Depending on the purpose of the interaction, this might include:

  • Names.
  • Contact information. eg. phone numbers, email addresses, mailing addresses, billing addresses, contact preferences.
  • User credentials, including passwords. More about how I protect your passwords and user credentials.
  • Payment processing details.
  • Device and usage information.

Third parties on my websites and what they collect

I use additional software and in some cases this collects personal data directly from you when you interact with my website.

Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to analyse website usage and behaviour. This may include anonymised data about your interaction with my website but only if you have consented to cookies.

Google Analytics associate the visitation information it collects from this site with Google information from accounts of signed-in users who have consented to this association for the purpose of ads personalization. This Google information may include end user location, search history, YouTube history, and data from sites that partner with Google—and is used to provide aggregated and anonymized insights into users’ cross device behaviours.

How I get the personal information and why I have it

Most of the personal information I process is provided directly by you when you ask me to provide a service or interact with me in another way. eg. you ask me to design a new website or you fill out my contact form.

I may also receive personal information indirectly, from Google Analytics and Stripe, when you interact with my website or make a payment.

I may use your personal information for marketing and promotional work, such as promotional emails, but only when you have given me permission to do so. I will not sell or pass your details to other third parties for their marketing or promotional work, except where that data is collected directly by the third party in the case of Google Analytics (detailed above).

I use the information I collect in various other ways, including to:

  • Provide my service.
  • Provide, operate, and maintain my website.
  • Improve and expand my services.
  • Understand user behaviour on my website and how I can better cater for users.
  • Communicate with you, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website.
  • Promote my services, including targeting my promotions to customers who I think would be most interested.
  • To manage your project – for example to organise content, keep track of progress and share content with you.
  • Find and prevent fraud.

Lawful basis

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information depends on the type of information it is:

  • Your consent. You have consented to me having your personal information that you volunteer or that I receive from a third party service or cookie as described in this policy. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting .
  • I have a contractual obligation. There is certain information I need to provide my services. For example, your name and contact details.

Who I share your personal data with

I may share this information with third parties where it helps me provide a service. I specifically may use third party software to:

  • Securely back up files.
  • Project manage – to organise, track and communicate progress with you.
  • Provide invoicing and accounting software.
  • Provide payment processing.
  • Provide online document collaboration.
  • Store your data that I need for your project safely and to make it available across the devices I use.
  • Provide web hosting.
  • Provide email services.
  • Add additional functionality to your website.

How I store your personal information

I keep your information on my own computers or devices, as well as other physical and virtual storage locations. I also use software provided by third parties where it helps me provide or improve my service and may record your data there.

When you give me sensitive information such as usernames and passwords, I store these in encrypted format and not in plain text for longer than is reasonably necessary. I may use online or cloud software to do this so that I can retrieve your user credentials across the different devices I use.

Secure web browsing

When you visit my website any data you communicate is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL technology. When you connect with my website your browser will typically verify my website identity using the SSL certificate my website provides before making an encrypted link.

Devices and software I use

Any devices I use are password secured and have up to date anti virus software. The anti virus software I use has been verified by independent antivirus testing labs such as SE Labs or the  AV-Test Institute.

Other device and software I use can include:

  • Physical storage devices protected by a password. eg. hard disks, USB sticks.
  • Virtual storage devices provided by a third party. eg. cloud storage.
  • Other third parties as listed above under the heading How I get the personal information and why I have it.

How long I retain your data

I retain your data for 90 days after our last contact or 90 days after termination of our contract, whichever is later.

I sometimes retain data for longer than 90 ways when it is  necessary, for example, for tax purposes/auditing.

When I am no longer required to keep your data I delete it from any devices, software or third party vendors where it is stored. I shred or otherwise destroy any physical documents that contain your personal information.

In the case of third party providers they may retain some data even after I have deleted it. Their reasons for doing this and your rights will be detailed in their respective privacy policies, listed above.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access – You have the right to ask me for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask me to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask me to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
